During the conversations, he accused Israel of committing near-daily crimes and massacres in Gaza, describing Israeli justifications as false and misleading.

Al-Hayya rejected and condemned the ongoing attacks, warning that clear violations of the ceasefire agreement would carry serious political and security consequences.

“Resistance commitment depends on Israel’s compliance”

Al-Hayya stressed that the resistance’s commitment to the ceasefire requires Israel to fulfill its obligations and halt its continued actions in Gaza.

“The resistance’s respect for the agreement requires compelling the occupation to comply with its commitments and preventing it from continuing its crimes,” he said.

Hamas blames Israel for Rafah tunnel crisis

Hamas also held Israel responsible for failing to resolve the situation of Palestinians trapped in tunnels located in occupied areas of Rafah. Following the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, many Palestinians remained stranded in the southern Gaza city.

Despite mediation efforts, Israel has reportedly blocked their exit, claiming that those trapped are members of Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

Ceasefire issues remain unresolved

Although U.S. President Donald Trump announced in mid-January that the second phase of the ceasefire had begun, problems related to the truce — including the fate of those trapped in tunnels — remain unresolved.

Resistance groups: Attacks aim to sabotage ceasefire

Separately, Palestinian resistance factions said Israel’s intensified attacks in Gaza represent a deliberate attempt to undermine efforts to strengthen the ceasefire.

In a joint statement, the National and Islamic Forces Follow-Up Committee said Israeli forces have continued violating the ceasefire while significantly escalating attacks following the formation of the Gaza Strip National Administration Committee.

Civilian targets and rising casualties

The committee said Israeli attacks peaked at dawn, targeting residential buildings, shelters and police stations. Most of the casualties were women and children.

According to the statement, since January 17, at least 71 Palestinians have been killed and 140 wounded — many critically. Gaza has been subjected to 96 air and artillery strikes and 61 direct attacks on civilians, with 17 homes destroyed or bombed along with their occupants.

“A bloody message” to Gaza administration

The committee described the attacks as a “bloody message” from Israel indicating it will not allow the Gaza Strip National Administration Committee to carry out its duties. The statement said the escalation aims to obstruct all efforts to ease civilian suffering and end the humanitarian crisis.

It added that Israel’s actions once again demonstrate that the Israeli government is the party attempting to derail ceasefire implementation and regional stability.

Call for action over Rafah crossing

The committee also addressed efforts to reopen the Rafah Border Crossing, stressing that it is a Palestinian-Egyptian crossing.
