Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez said Havana had approved a major economic reform package, but the U.S. continued to pursue new unilateral pressure measures.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Rodr\u00edguez: Reforms are a matter of sovereignty<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Speaking at a press conference on June 30, Rodr\u00edguez said the newly approved reform package is regarded as <a title=\"Cuba to impose power cuts across 70 percent of the country as energy crisis deepens\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/cuba-to-impose-power-cuts-across\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cuba<\/a>\u2019s largest market-oriented economic reform effort since the Cuban Revolution.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that the measures were never raised or discussed by the U.S. side during previous contacts between the two countries.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>U.S. imposed new sanctions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Earlier this month, the United States imposed new sanctions on Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel, several senior officials and a number of companies playing a significant role in the country\u2019s struggling economy.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the sanctions were announced after Cuba approved 176 economic reforms, described as the most comprehensive changes since the 1959 revolution.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Oil embargo to be discussed at the UN<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Rodr\u00edguez also announced that the United Nations General Assembly will discuss the U.S. oil embargo on Cuba on July 7.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rodr\u00edguez, U.S. pressure policies threaten the lives of Cuban citizens and the realization of human rights.
