{"id":8369,"date":"2010-08-21T18:04:01","date_gmt":"2010-08-21T15:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=8369"},"modified":"2010-08-23T12:56:19","modified_gmt":"2010-08-23T09:56:19","slug":"turkey-model-modern-democracy-tekebayev-64613795","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/turkey-model-modern-democracy-tekebayev-64613795\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey a Model for Modern Democracy, Tekebayev"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/omurbek-tekebayev.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8370\" title=\"Turkey a Model for Modern Democracy, Tekebayev\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/omurbek-tekebayev-280x204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/omurbek-tekebayev-280x204.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/omurbek-tekebayev.jpg 410w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/a>Kyrgyzstan&#8217;s former parliament speaker and deputy prime minister said Saturday that Turkey proved that a modern democracy could be established both in the Turkic and the Islamic world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Omurbek Tekebayev, leader of Kyrgyzstan&#8217;s Ata Meken Party, held a press conference in the Turkish capital following his talks with Turkish officials including Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.<\/p>\n<p>Turkey pledged support to Kyrgysztan to help establish a parliamentary system in the country, Kyrgyz officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the press conference, Tekebayev said that recent riots that led to ousting of Kyrgyz government has brought a historic change in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Bloody street riots ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev in April. Violence in the country killed hundreds and displaced thousands. Kyrgyzstan is set to vote for a parliamentary election on October 10.<\/p>\n<p>Omurbek Tekebayev said the country was ruled by only one family since 1990s, the post-Soviet era, which he described as a period of &#8220;criminal system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Two Kyrgyz presidents have been ousted after unrests in last five years, Tekebayev said, adding that it was because Kyrgyz people did not want a dictatorship in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking as an advocate of democracy, Tekebayev said, &#8220;democracy is a life style.
