{"id":9401,"date":"2010-12-10T17:47:55","date_gmt":"2010-12-10T14:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=9401"},"modified":"2010-12-10T17:47:55","modified_gmt":"2010-12-10T14:47:55","slug":"barcelona-agreed-record-125m-shirt-deal-10122010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/barcelona-agreed-record-125m-shirt-deal-10122010\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona agreed record \u00a3125m shirt deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/messi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9402\" title=\"messi\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/messi-280x189.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/messi-280x189.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/messi.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/a>Barcelona have ended their 111-year history of refusing commercial shirt sponsorship by signing a record \u00a3125m deal with the Qatar Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The Catalan giants have paid to carry the Unicef logo for the last five years and the children&#8217;s charity will share shirt space with the new sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>Barcelona have a sizeable debt but now claim to be &#8220;the undisputed brand leader in world football&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The deal will be worth \u00a325m a year from next season through until 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In July, an audit revealed Barcelona&#8217;s debt to be \u00a3369.5m after a loss of more than \u00a364.36m in the 2009\/10 season.<\/p>\n<p>The new sponsorship arrangement could free up some transfer funds for coach Pep Guardiola &#8211; who worked as an ambassador for Qatar&#8217;s successful bid to host the 2022 World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The Qatar Foundation is a non-profit organisation concerned primarily with education projects in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>It is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, the wife of the Emir, who was central to Qatar&#8217;s final World Cup bid last week.<\/p>\n<p>Senior club executives said the deal was a &#8220;remarkable milestone because it represents a record level of revenue for a football club and has more value still in the current economic climate&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Manchester United and Real Madrid both earn a little over \u00a320m a year for their rights, while Bayern Munich make closer to \u00a323m.<\/p>\n<p>Marketing experts will seek to find a way for both logos to be displayed on the Barcelona shirts, although if that is not possible the Unicef name will take priority.<\/p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #f00;\">Error, group does not exist!
