Zidane Plays in Charity Match against Poverty

Zinedine Zidane joined a star-studded squad for a charity football match in Athens organized to attract attention to global fight against poverty.

The match on Tuesday night ended in a 2-2 draw against the leading Greek club Olympiakos.

Zidane, a UN goodwill ambassador, mobilized a team from across Europe to take on an all-star side from Olympiakos for the eighth edition of the Match Against Poverty.

More than 30,000 spectators watched the game played at Karaiskakis Stadium in Pireaus, with Radomir Antic and Hugo Sanchez coaching Zidane’s team.

The game was broadcast live to more than 20 international TV channels, including Haiti and Pakistan.

Ronaldo, former teammate of Zidane at Real Madrid and currently playing for Corinthians, also appeared for the game although he did not play due to injury.
