Seowon, Joseon d\u00f6neminde Yeni-Konf\u00fc\u00e7y\u00fcs\u00e7\u00fc e\u011fitim ak\u0131m\u0131na dahildi. \u00d6zellikle Orta ve Ge\u00e7 Joseon d\u00f6nemlerinde en yayg\u0131n bulunan ve kullan\u0131lan e\u011fitim yap\u0131lar\u0131d\u0131r. \u0130lk seowon yap\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n Kral Sejong zaman\u0131nda yakla\u015f\u0131k olarak 1418 y\u0131l\u0131nda yap\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclmektedir fakat kay\u0131tlarda bilinen en eski seowon \u00f6rne\u011fi 1543 y\u0131l\u0131nda yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.
