Greece rescue plan has finally an alternative. Head of Austrian Commerce Chamber suggests Greece should sell Greek Islands and non other than to Turkey !

Vienna / NationalTurk –  The head of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Christoph Leitl, made a interesting proposal to Greeks, that regards the sale of some isolated and uninhabited Greek islands to Turkey. Leitl believes that such an action may improve the fading Greece economy and the tense atmosphere existing between Athens and Europe.

‘ The purchase of Greek Islands is not about the money, it is about the good spirit that Greeks will show through this action, something that may increase the supporters of Greece in these dark days they have to endure, ‘ Leitl said.

Leitl also rejected a potential sovereign default of Greece, emphasizing that it would not be a suitable alternative option at the moment.

Germany and Austria to Greece : Put Greek Islands on sale

Christoph Leitl concluded that the European Union faces an unprecedented challenge in the case of Greece that demands innovations and investments in education and research for the benefit of the new generation.

Germany has already made an attempt to purchase some Greek islands. Greece must consider a fire sale of land, historic buildings and art works to cut its debts, two rightwing German politicians had said what exacerbated tensions between Athens and Berlin recently. The Greek Islands of Acropolis and the Parthenon are first to go, claimed German Tabloid ‘ Bild ‘.

Turkish Businessmen eager to buy Greek Islands

Turkish businessmen are eager to buy Greek islands which were put up for sale. Turkey is planning to purchase at least three of six Greek islands put up for sale, and to set up a company in Greece in order to buy the islands in case of any obstacle he may face during the purchasing process.

With Greece’s economy in shambles, the Greek government is turning to one of the few natural resources it has, the land. The Greek Isles are comprised of some 6,000 islands, of which only 227 are inhabited.
