Five PKK terrorist planning Bomb attack in Istanbul caught by Turkish police

Turkish police detained five members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in an operation yesterday.

The terrorists were reportedly planning to bomb parts of Istanbul.

PKK Terrorists have raised concerns in Turkey after a spite of attacks in recent months mainly in the east and southeast of the country.

The planned attack was uncovered as a result of joint efforts by the Istanbul Police Department’s Anti-Terrorism Unit and Intelligence Unit.

The terrorists, three of whom received bomb training in PKK camps abroad, were caught at Istanbul’s Esenler bus station.

Police seized sketches of the places where they planned to conduct the attacks and documents on the suspects.

The terrorists, including one woman, were referred to an Istanbul courthouse in Besiktas after they gave statements at an Istanbul police station.
