Two people were shot dead in Schwalmstadt in northern Hesse. As the police in Homberg (Efze) announced, there were shots in a shop where the two lifeless people were then discovered. It is still unclear who the two dead are.
The shots were fired shortly after 1 p.m. in the Treysa district. According to their own statements, the police were on site with strong forces. There is no danger to the population. The area has been cordoned off over a wide area.
Schwalmstadt is about halfway between Marburg and Kassel.
According to information from Hessischer Rundfunk, the Hessian state parliament interrupted its session shortly after the crime. State President Astrid Wallmann (CDU) expressed her condolences to the relatives of the dead, also on behalf of the MPs.
