Turkey stages air attacks on pkk / Turkey News

Turkish aeroplanes and attack helicopters have been pounding pkk positions in a rugged area near Turkey’s borders with Iraq and Iran, an official says.

Sedat Tore, mayor of the Turkish town of Semdinli, said on Thursday he had seen aeroplanes and helicopter gunships flying toward nearby Mount Goman, where the terrorists were believed to be hiding.

Tore said Turkish troops and pkk terrorist group had been clashing in the area for about two weeks, forcing some villagers to flee their homes.

Dozens of rebels have reportedly been killed and the governor’s office said at least two soldiers had been killed and 14 wounded.
