In order to ensure safety of visiting Chinese Prime Minister , six JF-17 fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will escort Chinese Premier Li Keqiang aircraft after it enters Pakistan air space on Wednesday.

Islamabad, May 21/Nationalturk – Atleast six JF-17 Thunder fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force will escort Chinese Premier Li Keqiang aircraft after it enters Pakistan air space on Wednesday.

Chinese PM, who is presently on a three-day visit to India, will start his two –day state visit to Pakistan tomorrow.

Pakistan’s security officials said JF-17s, developed and built jointly by China and Pakistan will escort the special Air China Boeing 747 aircraft carrying Chinese PM to Nur Khan airbase tomorrow.

They said a 21-gun salute will be given to Chinese PM on his arrival in the airbase and JF-17s will flypast over the air base.

Officials said Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and caretaker Prime Minister Justice (Retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso will receive Chinese PM, who will arriving on first visit to Pakistan after assuming office in March this year.

Nawaz Sharif will also meet Chinese PM

Media reports said Zardari will host a luncheon for the Chinese PM in which all the major leadership of political parties of the country have also been invited.

The country’s caretaker Prime Minister will also host a banquet for his Chinese counterpart.

On the second day of his visit, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief and incoming prime minister Chief Nawaz Sharif will meet Li Keqiang. Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N won May 11 general elections in Pakistan and Nawaz will take oath as Pakistan’s PM for third time early next month.

The Chinese Premier is scheduled to address Pakistan Senate (upper house) on May 23.

Officials said the two countries will also sign a number of memoranda of understanding for close cooperation in various fields.

They said Chinese PM will leave Pakistan on Thursday and six JF-17s will escort his aircraft till the aerial limits of Pakistan.

Pakistan Foreign office spokesman while welcoming Chinese PM’s visit to country said, “Government and people of Pakistan look forward to the visit of Premier Li Keqiang and a warm welcome awaits him”.
