Louise Monaghan book: A Mother’s Journey into Syria to Rescue the Daughter Abducted by Her Violent Husband

Louise Monaghan : ‘They said I’d be stoned to death… but I still walked into a war zone to snatch back my little girl’

The  family of an Irish woman who travelled to Syria to be reunited with her kidnapped daughter say they are worried they may never see her again. Louise Monaghan crossed over the Turkish-Syrian border a week ago today to find her daughter May (6), who the family say was abducted by her Syrian father Mostafa Assad. Her sister Mandy says she has only had limited contact since she crossed the border in a taxi organised by Mr Assad, and the pair communicate in code to confirm she is safe. “She got a taxi. She is OK and she is with May; I’m sure it’s absolutely horrible,” Mandy said from her base in Cyprus. She said she will travel back to Ireland this week in a bid to raise awareness of her sister’s plight.
