Will the U.S. Strike Iran? Military Ready for Operation, Final Call with Trump

The U.S. military is reportedly prepared to launch a strike against Iran this weekend. The final decision, however, has not yet been made by President Donald Trump.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated once again. According to reports by CNN and Axios, citing U.S. officials, the White House is actively weighing military options against Iran, and the U.S. military has reached a level of readiness that would allow it to carry out an operation as early as this weekend. Despite the reported preparations, the ultimate decision remains in the hands of President Donald Trump.

High-Level Meeting at the White House

Reports indicate that senior national security officials convened Wednesday in the White House Situation Room to discuss Iran. During the meeting, President Trump was briefed that military options could be executed on short notice.

Axios reported that the meeting included Trump’s Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, his son-in-law and informal adviser Jared Kushner, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and other senior officials. Both potential military intervention and the diplomatic track were discussed.

Military Assets Repositioned

CNN reported that U.S. air and naval assets in the Middle East have been significantly reinforced in recent days. Some U.S. air assets were reportedly moved from the United Kingdom to locations closer to the Middle East, and additional naval forces were deployed to the region.

While the military is said to be prepared to launch a strike against Iran this weekend, Trump has not yet issued a final order. The reports state that the President has evaluated arguments both in favor of and against military action and has asked advisers to assess the most appropriate course forward.

Diplomacy and War Risk on the Same Table

At the same time, diplomatic efforts continue. Details of nuclear talks held this week with Iranian officials in Geneva, Switzerland, were reportedly presented to Trump during the meeting. He was also briefed on Russia-Ukraine negotiations and the planned Gaza Peace Council meeting.

Officials reportedly warned that a potential military operation against Iran could, unlike the January operation in Venezuela, escalate into a broader conflict that might last for weeks.
