Ahmedabad airport rated best airport in India: Report

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport in Indian city of Ahmedabad has been rated as best airport in India as far as passenger services on airport is concerned.

New Delhi, Aug 17/Nationalturk- According to survey on airport, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport in Indian city of Ahmedabad has been rated as best airport in India.

The survey was conducted by Airport Council international (ACI) and involved 11 airports — Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Goa, Ahmedabad, Pune, Lucknow, Srinagar, Calicut, Guwahati and Trivandrum.

ACI is an international body of the confederation of airports which carries out the survey independently and offers indices of satisfaction based on the responses provided by passengers.

The survey rated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad in Indian State of Gujarat as best in India when it came to passenger services on airport.

“Ahmedabad stood first with the satisfaction index of 4.13 on the scale of 5. It was followed by Guwahati, Lucknow and Srinagar”.

India’s leading newspaper, Times  of India quoted Ahmedabad airport Director R K Singh as saying that they have introduced many facilities at the airport. “These include medical assistance and care for senior citizens”.

‘Bird-hits, monkey menace on Runway’

The newspaper said the passengers may have a different view as there have been instances of bird-hits and monkey menace on the runway in Ahmedabad airport.  “Over the past four years, bird-hits have gone down but continue to present a threat to planes and passengers. In 2010, 19 bird-hits were reported at the Ahmedabad airport; two such incidents have been recorded in 2013 till now”.

It further reports that dogs are not far behind birds and monkeys in causing nuisance at the airport. “The dog squad is employed daily at the airport to catch dogs from operational areas and from outside the airport”.
