Authorities warn: Iran could plan an attack on Trump

Two years ago, on Trump's orders, the US military killed a senior Iranian general.

Secret services estimate the danger of a revenge action high.

According to US intelligence agencies, Iran could be planning an attack on a current or former US government official. This emerges from a report by the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), which was first reported by “Yahoo News”. The paper was created in the run-up to US President Joe Biden’s trip to the Middle East and is based on an analysis of public statements and actions over the past few months.

Ex-President Donald Trump is named as a potential target. The report said: “Since January 2021, Tehran has publicly expressed intentions to conduct lethal operations inside the United States, and in doing so has identified former President Donald Trump, former Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, and former Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Kenneth McKenzie identified priority targets for retaliation.”

Revenge for US drone attack

The background is a US drone attack in Iraq in early January 2020: At that time, the Trump administration ordered the killing of high-ranking Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. The commander of the al-Quds Brigades has been blamed for planning numerous terrorist attacks abroad and is considered one of the leading figures in Iran’s military strategy.

Iran announced retaliation immediately after the drone strike – and has publicly reiterated this intention for the past several months. According to the NCTC report, “The Iranian regime is waging a multi-pronged campaign consisting of threats of deadly measures, international judicial maneuvers, and the issuance of arrest warrants and sanctions on selected U.S. officials.”

According to “Yahoo News”, the politicians mentioned by name did not want to comment on the report. It is also explosive because, among other things, the USA is currently negotiating a new nuclear agreement with Iran. It is intended to prevent the Iranian regime from being able to produce nuclear weapons. In exchange for control options, sanctions could be relaxed. Trump had canceled the previous agreement as part of his strict course on Iran.
