A few weeks ago, the documentary “Herlufsholms hemmelighede” (in English: “The Secrets of Herlufsholm”) was released and has been causing a stir ever since. In it, 50 former students of the elite boarding school of the same name have their say and report that they have experienced violence, bullying and abuse from classmates there. The Danish royals also send their offspring to this educational institution.
After the emergence of this scandal, the royal family is now again in the spotlight because of bad news. This time it’s about her longtime chef. Jens-Peter Skov is accused of sexual harassment and psychological harassment by 17 former colleagues. This is reported by the Danish newspaper “Ekstra Bladet”.
“The collaboration is over”
Now the court around Queen Margrethe II is taking consequences: “The collaboration with Sallingsund Færgekro is over,” says a statement, referring to the chef’s gastronomy. It is also emphasized that the family was not previously aware of the allegations.
The connection between the restaurateur and royalty dates back to 1995. For several generations, the blue-blooded have been regulars at Skov’s restaurants and hired him for events. The chef also provided the food for the wedding of the crown prince couple, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary, in 2004.

The accused states on “Ekstra Bladet” that he cannot remember the attacks that are said to have happened since 1996. “There is a certain tone in a house like ours, but it’s not uncomfortable, and I deeply regret if anyone thinks that was the case,” he tries to trace the allegations back to the industry.
He criticizes that he was never asked about the alleged incidents by his colleagues. Nevertheless, he regrets his behavior if it was misunderstood by employees.
