Fire near US Consulate in Dubai contained after drone strike

Authorities said a limited fire near the US Consulate in Dubai was quickly extinguished following a drone-related incident. No injuries were reported.

A drone strike sparked a limited fire in the vicinity of the US Consulate in Dubai on Tuesday, according to the Dubai Media Office. Officials confirmed that the blaze was swiftly brought under control and that no casualties were reported.

Fire quickly extinguished

In a statement posted on X, the Dubai Media Office said authorities had successfully contained the fire resulting from the drone-related incident near the diplomatic compound.

Residents in the area reported hearing a loud explosion before seeing smoke and flames near the consulate. Streets surrounding the building were cordoned off, while plainclothes police officers moved onlookers away from the scene. Jet sounds were reportedly heard over Dubai earlier in the day.

Diplomatic sites across the Gulf targeted

The incident follows other reported drone attacks targeting US diplomatic facilities in the region. Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry said two drones caused a small fire at the US Embassy in Riyadh earlier on Tuesday.

On Monday, the US Embassy in Kuwait City was also struck by drones, according to diplomatic sources. Smoke was seen rising from the building.

The developments signal rising security concerns for US diplomatic missions across the Gulf region.
