Dutch woman (25) dies after shooting in Colombian restaurant

A 25-year-old Dutch woman was killed in a shooting in the extreme south of Colombia on Wednesday afternoon. This is reported by local media. Her identity has not yet been disclosed.

According to Colombian radio station RCN Radio, the woman was shot dead in a restaurant in Leticia, the capital of Amazonas province. A young man from Brazil she was talking to was also killed when two men entered the establishment and started firing at the two. The gunmen fled.

Two other diners from the restaurant are in critical condition in hospital. It would be residents of Leticia who were eating in the restaurant. They were hit by several bullets.

A motive is not yet known to authorities. Local police have launched a search for the culprits. Images from cameras hanging near the restaurant are being examined. Leticia is located on the Amazon River on the borders with Brazil and Peru in the Colombian part of the Amazon region.
