Despite Hiddink’s famialarity with Russian football, Guus Hiddink’s demands may prove too much even for Anzhi’s owner, Suleyman Kerimov, as the Dutchman failed to live up to expectations in recent years as he was in the past. The dutch coach failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup with Russia, and subsequently missed out on Euro 2012 with Turkey, where he was sacked as a result.

The Makhachkala side have been in search of a new manager since they parted ways with coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev back in September, after a fast start to Russian Premiere League but fall out of form.

At the moment the duo of Andrey Gordeev and legendary Brazilian left defender Roberto Carlos are in charge of Anzhi as caretaker managers. Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger and his another French manager Didier Deschamps, who now heads Marseille, are reported to be the other possible candidates for the Anzhi Makhachkala manager seat.
