A US family wanted to take home a special souvenir from Israel – sparking panic at an airport near Tel Aviv. A human was injured.

A dud in the luggage of a US family has caused panic at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. After security guards discovered the grenade in the family’s luggage, the baggage handling area was immediately cleared, the Israeli airport authority IAA said on Friday. An Internet video showed frightened passengers running in different directions. According to the IAA, the family wanted to take the unexploded grenade home as a souvenir.

One person was injured at the airport in the incident that happened on Thursday. He had to be treated in the hospital.

According to the IAA, one of the US family’s children found the grenade while walking in the Golan Heights. The area was the scene of fierce fighting between Israel and Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Despite the incident, the US family was able to take their flight as planned, according to the IAA.
