FBI warns California over possible Iranian drone retaliation

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reportedly issued a warning to police departments in California about a potential Iranian retaliatory attack. According to reports, Iran could deploy drones from an unidentified vessel off the US West Coast if the United States launches military strikes against the country.
Drone attack scenario outlined
According to a report by ABC News, a warning message sent by the FBI to law enforcement agencies in California at the end of February has been reviewed.
The document stated that information obtained by the FBI earlier in February suggested Iran could launch drones from an unknown ship near the California coastline if the United States carried out attacks on Iranian territory.
The report noted that there were no further details about when the alleged attack might occur, how it would be carried out or who would be involved.
Authorities increase preparedness
The office of California Governor Gavin Newsom said the state’s Office of Emergency Services is actively working with state, local and federal security authorities to ensure public safety.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said it remains on a high level of alert in light of current global developments.
The department stated that patrols have been increased around places of worship, cultural institutions and other sensitive locations across the county as a precaution.
US-Israel attacks on Iran
Israel and the United States launched military strikes against Iran on February 28 while negotiations between Tehran and Washington were still ongoing.
Iran responded with attacks targeting Israeli interests as well as locations in several regional countries hosting US military bases, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
According to Iranian officials, the US-Israel strikes have left more than 1,348 people dead and over 17,000 injured.
