FIFA President Gianni Infantino watched the friendly match in Antalya where the Iranian national team defeated Costa Rica 5-0 from the stands.

FIFA President Closely Monitors Iranian National Team
Iran, hesitant about participating in the World Cup to be hosted by the USA along with Canada and Mexico after the Iran-USA conflict, defeated Costa Rica 5-0 in a friendly match in Antalya.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino went to Antalya to watch the match from the stands and held discussions with Iranian national team officials regarding the World Cup.
During the pre-match ceremony at the Titanic Mardan Palace Sports Complex, national team players, holding photographs of children killed in the war as well as damaged hospitals and historical buildings, did not let go of the photos even while their national anthem was being played.

As part of the matches moved from Amman, Jordan to Antalya following the conflicts, Iran wore black armbands and a girl carried a school bag during the pre-match ceremony of their friendly match against Nigeria on March 27, which they lost 2-1.

Iran won the match 5-0 against their opponent, who also qualified for the World Cup, with goals from Ali Gholizadeh in the 11th minute, Mehdi Taremi from penalties in the 19th and 34th minutes, Mohammed Mohebi in the 31st minute, and Mehdi Ghayedi in the 54th minute.
