The foreign tourist arrivals in India have registered a steady and positive growth during last three years.

New Delhi, Dec 13/Nationalturk – Indian Tourism minister K Chiranjeevi has said that foreign tourist arrivals in country have registered a steady and positive growth during last three years.

“The foreign tourist arrivals in India is witnessing a steady increase in last three years,” Chiranjeevi told Rajya Sabha, upper house of Indian parliament.

Giving figures, the minister said 5.78 million foreign tourists visited country in 2010. “The year 2010 witnessed  11.8 per cent growth rate in inflow of foreign tourists to the country”.

He said in 2011, 6.31 million tourists foreign tourists travelled to India. “The year witnessed 6.31 per cent growth in foreign tourist arrivals”.

2012 witnessed 4.3 growth rate in foreign tourist arrivals

The Indian Tourism minister said 2012 also witnessed 4.3 per cent growth rate in inflow of foreign tourists. “About 5.58 million foreign tourists visited the country last year”.

About this year’s figures, he said the figure is being prepared.

He, however, said foreign tourist arrivals during from January to October 2013 were 5.33  million with a growth of 4.0%, as compared to foreign tourist arrivals of 51.24 lakh during the corresponding period last year.

The Indian Tourism minister said an advisory has been posted on the Ministry of Tourism website www.incredibleindia.org  indicating that India remains a safe destination for international tourists especially women tourists.
