A tunnel exposed by the Israeli military is seen on the Israeli side of the Israel-Gaza border

Several Hamas fighters have penetrated through a tunnel from the Gaza Strip into Israel. Apparently they wanted to raid a kibbutz near the border. The army was able to prevent the attack.

A few hours before the scheduled start of a ceasefire with Hamas, the Israeli army claims to have prevented a terrorist attack. 13 heavily armed Palestinians were penetrated by a tunnel from the southern part of the Gaza Strip about 250 meters to Israel, said the military.

The armed forces discovered the attacker shortly after they had left the tunnel on the Israeli side. Apparently they wanted to attack Kibbutz Sufa, which is one kilometer away.

On aerial photographs, published by the Israeli military, is to see how the fighters are bombarded from the air. According to army spokesman Peter Lerner said to have been killed in the attack at least one Hamas fighter. The other invaders were apparently fleeing through the tunnel in the Gaza Strip.
The Qassam Brigades – the military wing of Hamas – claimed responsibility for the attack. The militia claims that all fighters were returned safe to Gaza.

Despite the nightly stop the experiment Israel remains committed to a five-hour truce in the Gaza Strip. The cease-fire that went into effect at 9 clock CEST, is to give the people in the war zone the opportunity to be treated in a hospital or to get food.

Israel’s army, but stressed they would respond decisively if Hamas should shoot during the agreed cease-fire missiles. The inhabitants of the villages of Beit Lahia and Sadschaija were further asked to vacate their homes – these are more than 250,000 people.
