New Delhi, Dec 6/NationalTurk : India’s largest car makers Maruti Suzuki India has said the company will increase prices of vehicles of all modes from January 2013.

“We will increase prices of our products. The price hike will vary depending on models,” Maruti Suzuki India Chief Operating Officer (Marketing & Sales) Mayank Pareek told media persons in Indian capital.

He said the price hike has been necessitated due to various reasons including currency fluctuation.

“We may increase the prices of vehicle by up to Rs 20,000 (INR),” Pareek said.

Maruti Suzuki India is India’s largest car maker company and sells variety of models starting from the M-800 to imported Kizashi at a price range starting from Rs 2.09 lakhs (INR) to Rs 17.52 lakh (INR).

According to senior management official of Maruti Suzuki India, the company had posted a 5.41 percent fall in net profit at Rs 227.45 crore. “This was due to violence at one of its plants in Indian city of Manesar and low sales and currency fluctuation,” they said.

They said Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 1,03,200 units in November 2012, a growth of 12.5 per cent. This includes 12,318 units for export. The Company had sold a total of 91,772 units in November 2011.

Maruti Suzuki India was the first company in India to mass-produce and sell more than a million cars. It is largely credited for having brought in an automobile revolution to India. It is the market leader in India.
