London / NationalTurk – John Terry arrived at Westminster magistrates court for his racist abuse trial where he is charged for racist obscenities aimed at Anton Ferdinand which is a racially aggravated public order offence according to UK law.

England footballer and national team captain John Terry called Anton Ferdinand a series of racist insults in response to taunts about his alleged affair with a team-mate’s ex-girlfriend in a Premier League match at Loftus Road on 23 October the Westminster court heard today.

John Terry has confirmed he is pleading not guilty at the start of his trial for allegedly racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.

The 31-year-old Chelsea defender allegedly called Anton Ferdinand, who plays for Queens Park Rangers, a ‘ f—— black c—, the court also heard that Terry told Ferdinand to ‘ f— off ‘ and also called him a “f—— k—head ‘ as the pair exchanged insults. Ferdinand’s choice of insults remains to be learned yet.

The Chelsea captain had arrived at Westminster magistrates court wearing a grey suit and pink tie, as a small army of reporters from world media waited eagerly outside the courthouse. Terry did stay mum when asked for a comment.

John Terry faces a maximum fine of £2,500 if convicted of racial abuse charges. The John Terry racial abuse case is expected to continue throuhout this week and will be heard by the chief magistrate Howard Riddle and there won’t be any jury in the trial.
