Liverpool and Manchester United, Who will Win The Battle of Huntelaar

Liverpool are set to launch a stunning bid to bring Schalke forward Klass Jan Huntelaar to Merseyside as the club prepare to offload Luis Suarez. but the problem is Manchester United want the same player

Liverpool  are set to dispense with the Uruguayan after a controversy laden season that saw him become embroiled in a race row with Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

With both the player and club emerging from the saga with damaged reputations it’s rumoured they’re prepared to ditch the 25-year-old although they haven’t officially confirmed that he is for sale.

Juventus are reportedly  interested and are said to have placed him at the top of their summer shopping list after losing hope of prising Robin Van Persie away from Arsenal.

Holland international Huntelaar is the man new boss Brendan Rodgers’s wants to replace Suarez at Anfield and is thought to be mulling over a £16 million bid for the 28-year-old.

It’s doubtful that Schalke would be willing to sell the the former Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan striker after he netted 48 goals last season although uncertainty over his contract has given Liverpool hope of pulling off a deal.

Huntelaar, despite underwhelming spells with Real Madrid and AC Milan, has scored goals wherever he has played and will be a great addition to United’s squad as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to find the perfect foil for Wayne Rooney.

Huntelaar, 28, has been monitored by Arsenal and Tottenham previously, and the Dutchman will jump at the chance of playing in the English Premier League.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt admitted Huntelaar, who has just one year remaining on his current deal with the German club, has a buy-out clause and could leave if a suitable offer was made. “Huntelaar does have a €20 million buyout clause, and the rich clubs can afford it,” Heldt told German newspaper Bild.

Now, between Liverpool and Manchester United this week we will see who will win the battle of Huntelaar.
