New President of Soccer Federation starts duty ad interim in Brazil ahead of FIFA World Cup 2014, which will take place in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro / NationalTurk – Jose Maria Marin, the oldest vice president of the Brazilian Soccer Federation (CBF), on Monday replaced Ricardo Teixeira, who left office as head of Brazilian Soccer after 23 years for health problems.

Jose Maria Marin will be in the position for an undetermined period, until the CBF General Assembly elects its new chairman.

Teixeira’s resignation also includes his departure from the Local Organizing Committee of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which now is in charge of former Brasilian star players Ronaldo and Bebeto, members of the CBS Council, along with Marin, who also announced his joining that group. At a press conference at the headquarters of the CBF in Rio de Janeiro, Marin read the resignation letter of Teixeira, who last week had requested a 60-day medical leave.

Teixeira stated, after thanking the Brazilian soccer fans, that he did everything within his reach and power in these years, including sacrificing his health.

However, his resignation is marked by weeks of allegations related to corruption in Brazilian football and having received bribes from corporate sponsors ahead of Fifa World cup 2014.
