New Supreme Leader selected in Iran, name kept secret for security reasons
Member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Ahmed Alam al-Huda announced that the council has decided on the country’s new Supreme Leader. However, the identity of the chosen figure has not yet been disclosed.

After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, attention in the country turned to the question of who would take over the position. The Assembly of Experts has now made its decision and selected a new leader, but officials say the name will remain undisclosed for now due to security concerns.
Assembly confirms decision
Ahmed Alam al-Huda, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, confirmed that the council had reached a decision regarding the new Supreme Leader. According to his statement, the process of announcing the decision will be carried out by the Secretary of the Assembly.
Alam al-Huda said:
“Right now everything depends on Ayatollah Hosseini Bushehri, the Secretary of the Assembly of Experts. He is currently responsible for conveying the Assembly’s decision and announcing it to the public.”
Process began after Khamenei’s death
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei died after his residence was targeted on the first day of attacks carried out by the United States and Israel. Following his death, discussions began in Iran about who would become the country’s next Supreme Leader.
It had previously been announced that the Assembly of Experts, chaired by Ayatollah Arafi, would determine the new leader.
Name will remain undisclosed for now
Although the Assembly has selected the new Supreme Leader, Iranian authorities stated that the name will not be revealed at this stage for security reasons.
Al Jazeera also reported that the identity of the new leader will be officially announced by the Secretariat of the Assembly of Experts.
