Pakistan supports Turkey over shooting down of Turkish warplane in Syria

President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari called to President of Turkey Abdullah Gül to extend his support and solidarity in the wake of shooting down of a Turkish aircraft by Syria.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara have sended a Press Release to show solidarity with Turkey over recent Turkey Syria crisis :

‘ In a telephonic call last night to President Abdullah Gul, President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari expressed his support and solidarity in the wake of shooting down of a Turkish Air Force reconnaissance aircraft by Syria.’

President of Pakistan conveyed similar sentiments to Mr. Burhan Kayaturk, President of Pakistan-Turkish Friendship Group in the Turkish Parliament and other parliamentarians and senior representatives of the Turkish Government who received him at the Ankara Airport during his brief stopover this morning. ‘

A Turkish fighter jet was shot down by Syria on 22nd of June. Syria tried to defuse tensions with its northern neighbour, claiming the Turkish aircraft had been flying at low altitude on a route previously been used by Israeli warplanes.
