Rome to host march in solidarity with Venezuela, protest planned at U.S. embassy

Political parties, youth groups and civil society organizations in Italy have called for a march in Rome on January 10 against U.S. actions in Venezuela.

Several political parties, youth movements and social organizations in Italy have announced a joint call for a protest march in Rome to oppose what they describe as U.S. aggression against Venezuela. According to the organizers, the demonstration will take place on Saturday, January 10, starting from Esquilino Square and ending in front of the U.S. embassy in the Italian capital.

Broad coalition behind the call

Among the groups backing the initiative are the political parties Potere al Popolo, Patria Socialista and Rete dei Comunisti, as well as youth organizations such as Cambiare Rotta, the Alternative Student Opposition (OSA), the Italian Historical Pact and the Latin American Progressive Platform. Social organizations including ARCI, CRED, the Palestinian Student Movement and the La Villetta per Cuba Association have also joined the call.

Messages of solidarity with Venezuela

In a joint statement, organizers highlighted slogans such as “Hands off the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” “Stop U.S. imperialism and Zionism,” and “Freedom for Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.” The document stresses international solidarity with the Venezuelan people and condemns governments that support what it calls an attack on the country.

Growing protests in Italy

The planned march follows a large demonstration held in Rome on January 5 at Barberini Square, near the heavily guarded U.S. embassy. During that rally, speakers denounced the U.S. military action against Venezuela and the detention of President Nicolás Maduro as a serious violation of international law.

Nationwide mobilization

Protests have also taken place across Italy in recent days, with marches reported in cities including Milan, Bologna, Naples and Turin, as well as Rimini, Cuneo, Salerno, Savona, Imperia and Empoli, drawing thousands of participants.
