Russian missile strike on Kyiv kills 2, injures 13
Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, striking civilian infrastructure and leaving two people dead and 13 others injured, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that the strike caused multiple fires across residential areas. The missile attack, which targeted non-military facilities, has reignited concerns over Russia’s ongoing assaults on civilian zones.
Head of the Kyiv Military Administration Tymur Tkachenko condemned the strike, saying:
“There’s no ammunition storage, no military production here. Russian terrorists are deliberately hitting civilian infrastructure with ballistic missiles. What we are witnessing is pure terror.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the attack on social media, emphasizing the need for stronger air defense support:
“We prioritize Patriot systems precisely because of such attacks. It is critical that our partners implement what we discussed in recent days. No nation should face this kind of evil alone. Cooperation must continue. The United States, Europe, and G7 nations can ensure these assaults no longer threaten civilian lives. Russia’s ballistic attacks must be met with a united and decisive response.”
Authorities are continuing rescue operations as emergency teams work to extinguish the fires and assess the full extent of the damage.
