Shootings in Vienna: 3 dead, 7 hospitalized, a gunman is on the run

After the shooting that took place Monday, November 2 in the city center of the Austrian capital, an assailant was shot dead but at least another is still at large.

It was around 8 p.m. on Monday November 2 when several attacks hit the center of Vienna. The provisional toll stands at three dead while seven people are hospitalized in serious condition this Tuesday, November 3 in the morning. A gunman is said to be on the run.

The Austrian Minister of the Interior has just confirmed that one of the attackers was a radicalized man, sympathetic to the Islamic State. In a city of Vienna which was taking advantage of its last hours of spectacle and terraces before the reconfinement, at least two assailants therefore crisscrossed the streets of the city center, firing with their automatic weapons.

In the CCTV footage, a man in a seemingly calm and methodical white jumpsuit is seen running around with this submachine gun slung and shooting a passerby he randomly passes. Throughout the evening, it is confusion. There are rumors of a clash with the police and hostage-taking in a hotel. One assailant was shot dead by police, but at least one more is said to be on the run.
