The suicide bombings in Pakistan have declined from 44 in 2011 to 39 this year.

Islamabad, Dec 31: The suicide bombings in Pakistan have declined from 44 in 2011 to 39 this year. These bombings left 365 people dead and 607 others injured in the country in 2012.

Pakistan’s newspaper, The Nation, while quoting data collected from various sources, reported that 39 suicide attacks took place in Pakistan in 2012.

“In these suicide bombings, 365 persons were killed and 607 others wounded,” the data revealed.

It further stated that at least 44 suicide bombings had taken place in the country in 2011. “These attacks left 628 people dead and 1,183 injured”.

1167 killed in 2010

“2010 was the deadliest period in Pakistan. At least 1,167 persons were killed and 2,199 wounded in 58 suicide bombings in the country in 2010. In 2009, 90 suicide bombings took place, which left 949 people dead and 2356 wounded. Similarly, 61 suicide bombers blew themselves up in 2008. These suicide bombings killed 893 persons, and wounded 1,846 others”.

On Sunday, at least 19 persons were killed in the bombing in Baluchistan’s Mastung district. 25 others were injured in the attack. Most of the victims were Shiite Muslims.
