Tanzania tourism looking to boom with FIFA World Cup 2010

Tanzania looks to capitalize from the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa by inviting the participating teams to have their warm-up games their so that the players can also get used to the weather temperatures.

“We are well prepared and our strategies are so far on the right track. We expect several teams to camp and play friendly matches in the country and an influx of fans coming to the Southern Africa region to cheer their teams in the period leading to the World Cup,” Shukuru Kawambwa, chair of the presidential committee and Infrastructure Development Minister told journalists here.

Tourism groups have said hotels are ready to receive extra guests who are going or coming from South Africa.

The Tanzanian Football Federation president Leodegar Tenga has said that they were expecting at least two national teams so far with invitations sent to Germany, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, Australia, South Korea and North Korea as well as Paraguay and Brazil in South America.

Tanzania has also made plans to get fans who are planning to go to the World Cup Finals to visit the country for tourism with their world famous landmarks and safari parks.
