Trump: Countries buying oil should secure Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump said the security of the Strait of Hormuz, through which a large share of the world’s oil passes, should be ensured by the countries that obtain oil from the route.

US President Donald Trump made a notable statement regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on his social media account, Trump said that the safety of the strategic waterway, which carries a significant portion of global oil shipments, should be ensured by the countries that depend on it for energy supply.
Trump: The US will provide support
Trump stated that the United States is ready to assist the countries involved and emphasized that the security of the strait should be handled through coordinated international efforts.
“The countries that receive oil through the Strait of Hormuz should be responsible for ensuring its security,” Trump said in his post.
He added that the United States would work closely with those countries to ensure that everything proceeds quickly and smoothly, stressing that the effort should be carried out as a team.
“Security and harmony for the world”
Trump argued that such cooperation could help bring the world together around shared goals of security and stability, saying the effort could contribute to “harmony, safety and lasting peace.”
Remarks on attacks against Iran
Trump also referred to the recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran, claiming that Iran had been significantly weakened both militarily and economically.
Israel and the United States launched military strikes on Iran on February 28 while negotiations between Tehran and Washington were still ongoing.
Iran responded with attacks targeting Israeli positions as well as sites in several countries hosting US military bases, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
According to Iranian officials, the US-Israeli strikes have left more than 1,348 people dead and over 17,000 injured.
