Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s award-winning film “Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da” (Once Upon A time in Anatolia) is tipped to be nominated for an Oscar award for foreign language films.

The nomination of the turkish film is based on a change in its cinema release date in Turkey, according to movie observers.

The oscar academy regulation for foreign films to be nominated is that films competing for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film 2012 must be shown in a movie theater for at least a week between Oct. 1, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2011. The decision to move the release date for Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s film (Once Upon A time in Anatolia) ahead by one week would enable the film to run in this year’s Oscar Academy Awards.

Turkey selects Oscar Nominee for Foreign Language Film

The film’s premiere will be held at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival in September in Adana, a southern province at Meditteranean in Turkey.

“Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da” already got crowned with the Grand Jury Prize at the 64th Cannes Film Festival and received great acclaim.

Whether the film will be nominated for an Oscar will be determined according to the votes of cinema unions and associations and announced during a meeting in September 2011.
