Mo Farah won the men’s 5,000m final at the World Championships in Moscow for an historic ‘double double’ gong.

Farah won in 13:26:98, adding to his Olympic 5,000m and world and Olympic 10,000m titles to go down in British sport history as one of the greatest long-distance runners ever.

The Briton moved up the gears with 150m left, and looked to losing his lead with Kenyan Isiah Koech on his tail.

Farah kept a gap between himself and his competitors throughout the race, while Hagos Gebrhiwet misjudged his late burst as the Brit ran on for victory.

After the race, Farah told the BBC: ‘I’ve worked so hard for it. I was thinking about my kids and I wasn’t going to let the hard work go.

‘It was very tough. I thought they would have worked more of a team, but it was just left to the last few laps.’
