World Cup in thailandThe FIFA World Cup trophy was on display today in Thailand with the Coca-Cola sponsored FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour which arrived in Bangkok on Friday.

Members of the press, VIP guests and football fans were amongst the people excited to see the World Cup trophy live on stage. The trophy was received by Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in a special ceremony.

The Prime Minister said “I am happy to touch the Trophy. The arrival of the FIFA World Cup Trophy helps to promote the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa later this year and I hope it will also encourage Thai players to try harder to help the national side secure the countries first-ever FIFA World Cup berth.”

amongst the VIP guests were President of the Thailand Football Association Mr. Worawi Makudi and Thailand Coca-Cola General Manager Mr. Jorge Garduno.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will travel to 83 countries in 225 days covering 138,902 kilometers before it arrives in South Africa before the kick-off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
