Five militants were killed in firefight with Indian soldiers along Line of Control (LoC), the defacto border between nuclear arch rivals India and Pakistan in Kashmir, on Tuesday.
Srinagar, July 9/Nationalturk- At least five militants were killed in a fierce gunfight with Indian soldiers in Keran sector along Line of Control (LoC), the defacto border between nuclear arch rivals India and Pakistan in Kashmir, on Tuesday.
Army sources said soldiers deployed along LoC in Keran sector detected a group of militants trying to sneak into Indian Kashmir from Pakistani controlled Kashmir (PcK) last evening.
“The soldiers stationed at Ustad Post in Keran sector signaled the militants to stop and lay down weapons. However, when they ignored the signal and tried to move ahead, the soldiers fired from sophisticated weapons towards the infiltrating militants, who also returned the fire,” they said.
They said in the heavy exchange of fire, which continued for more than six hours, five well armed militants were killed while rest returned to PcK.
Massive combing operation launched
“Additional army men have been rushed to the area and a massive combing operation launched to flush out the militants, if any, who may have escaped during the course of gunfight and managed to sneak into this side of LoC,” sources said.
They said bodies of the militants have not been recovered yet. “It could also not be ascertained whether soldiers suffered any casualties or injuries during the firefight”.
The army spokesman in Srinagar has confirmed the gunfight between militants and soldiers along LoC.
Without giving information about number of militants killed in the encounter, he said, “Heavy casualties were inflicted on intruding militants.”
He said the infiltrating militants did not succeed in sneaking into this side of LoC.
A senior Indian army official said soldiers are already on high alert along LoC to prevent infiltration of militants from PcK.

india has a track record of lying about those it has killed; if you refer to the UN and Amnesty International, there have been several cases of “false encounters” reported whereby indian occupation forces murdered civilians in cold blood and then labelled them as “Pakistani” or “LeT” militants. It’s all a hogwash, and it’s one of many reasons why indian campaign in occupied portion of Kashmir will be a failed one. Kashmiris are with Pakistan, Kashmir is jugular vein of Pakistan – and our resolve to liberate Kashmir will NEVER die
