Bayern Munich through to the Champions League Quarter Finals

Fiorentina Vs Bayern Munich Champions League Knock Out stage Round up.

Bayern Munich lost 3-2 to Fiorentina but still managed to go through to the Champions League Quarter Finals on the away goals rule.

The German giants had won the first leg 2-1, but Fiorentina managed to go 2-0 up and closed the deficit by Juan Vargas on the 28th minute and Stevan Jovetic on the 54th minute.

All was looking good for Fiorentina until a 20 yard strike by Mark van Bommel on the 60th minute, which drew the game at 3-3 aggregate and would have taken the game to extra time.

However Stevan Jovetic Put the home side back up 3-1 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate on the 64th minute.

The Italians would have gone through if it was not for the Arjen Robben screamer from 30 yards to make the game 4-4 on aggregate just 1 minute after Fiorentina had gone ahead.

The Champions League Knock Out Stage between Fiorentina and Bayern Munich was just as expected with excitement on both side of the pitch.

The game which was played in windy conditions was no easy drift for Bayern Munich. The Italians had the wind behind their backs assisting them and it was no surprise that the first goal came from an effort that deflected of the Bayern Goal Keeper Hans-Joerg Butt and landed straight in front of Vargas.

Fiorentina were in control of the game particularly concentrating on Robben and Franck Ribery as the players were flanked by at least three Fiorentina players evey time the wingers received the ball.

The second half started again with Fiorentina the better side but when Bayern Munich scored through Mark van Bommel, the German giants came back to life with attacking play.

Robben finally toped the night of with a beautifully struck 30 yard shot which he directed into the top corner of the net.

Bayern Munich managed to go through to the Champions League Quarter Final but struggled greatly. It was a hard night for the Italians who had already been angered by a highly controversial goal in the first leg of the Champions League knock-out stage by Miroslav Klose which ultimately won the game for the Germans.
