Bruce Willis’s stuntman: “We noticed changes”

It was the sad news from Hollywood on Wednesday: Bruce Willis ended his career due to illness. Now a colleague of many years gives a glimpse behind the scenes.

All Bruce Willis fans need to be strong right now. The actor’s relatives announced that in the future he will no longer be in front of the camera. The reason for this is a language disorder: “We as a family would like to announce that our beloved Bruce has health problems and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which affects his cognitive abilities,” they wrote on Instagram.

“He seemed slimmer”

Now Stuart F. Wilson speaks up. He worked as Bruce Willis’ stunt double for 17 years. Speaking to The Sun, he said: “We’ve noticed a few changes, but a lot of big stars who are very, very famous like Bruce have a lot of things going on.” However, it was not clear at the beginning that there was something wrong with the American’s health.

In the interview, the stuntman recalled a few observations: “Sometimes when you talked to him, he seemed distracted and we thought it didn’t mean anything, but we wondered what else was going on with him.” At some point he realized that the 67-year-old was struggling with more than just forgetfulness. “When you spend that much time with someone, you see the changes.”

The last time the men worked together was last December. At this point, the team would have felt Willis would take a break afterwards. “He did some medical tests and stuff like that.”

Two weeks ago they would have seen each other again. Wilson’s perception of the screen hero: “He seemed slimmer, but he was never a big eater anyway.” However, Willis was not emaciated.

Co-star also remembers filming

One of Bruce Willis’ latest projects is the film “American Siege”, which also stars Rob Gough. In the “People” interview, the actor remembers the shooting last November. “Even though he had to go through that while he was in front of the camera – it’s second nature, he just went off and you had no idea there was anything wrong with him.”

“To learn of his condition and to know that it will be one of his last films is an honor and blessed to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from this man.” In his eyes, Willis is a “legend”. Even away from the camera, he got to know the family man as a loving person.
