The united states have granted visas to, two of Cuba’s biggest stars, a first in decades.

Prima ballerina Alicia Alonso and folk singer Silvio, who have both been supporters of the communist rule in Cuba were issued Visas for the United States.

Alicia Alonso, who has legendary status in Cuba was the founder of the Cuban national ballet (Ballet Nacional de Cuba) and will be going to the United States, Next month.

The 90-year-old, ballet legend will be attending a special anniversary performance on 3 June and may even perform.

She had risen to fame as a “Prima” ballerina with the American ballet company and got much attention due to her being partially blind.

Silvio Rodriguez will be performing on June 4th, and then will go on to other cities for a tour organized in the folk singers name.

The 63-year-old musician gave his last concert in the US in 1979 and is known as the voice of the Cuban revolution throughout Latin America.

The singer and songwriter is widely known for his lyrics which praise the communist system in Cuba and Che Guevara.

The singers were allowed into the US under the Obama administration after the US President had lightened the strict restrictions on Cuban’s visiting the US and the US citizens from visiting Cuba under the Bush Administration.

Though Barack Obama encourages face to face cultural exchange with Cuba, he still maintains the trade embargo issued on the island after the Communist revolution on the island.
