Despite chemo: Daum is back on the pitch

Christoph Daum is back on the pitch. Despite chemotherapy, the former Bundesliga coach coached in Berlin on Wednesday.

The long-time Bundesliga coach Christoph Daum, who was suffering from cancer, is back on the football field despite chemotherapy.

On the occasion of a benefit game between FC Bundestag and FC Diabetologie in Berlin, the 69-year-old coached the diabetes team, which he has been coaching since 2015.

“You mustn’t let yourself down. Of course, chemo sucks, but keep your head up and see how beautiful life is,” Daum said on the sidelines of the RTL television channel.

Lung cancer detected during routine check-up
Lung cancer was discovered in the soccer coach during a routine check-up in the summer of 2022, after which he began treatment. Daum made his illness public in October. He is currently undergoing his second chemotherapy. His sporting ambition drives him to fight cancer.
