Bananas are an ideal snack between meals, after all they provide the body with many important nutrients. But beware: the sweet fruit also contains a lot of sugar. So how many bananas do you recommend?

The statement that bananas make you fat is stubborn. However, this is unfounded as long as you don’t overdo the consumption of bananas. But at what level does it become too much? And how many calories are in the fruit?

Are Bananas Healthy? All of this contains a fruit

Bananas are particularly rich in potassium and magnesium, two nutrients that help stimulate digestion and circulation. Plus: Potassium is also essential for heart health. It has a beneficial effect on blood pressure and improves blood circulation.

100 grams of bananas contain the following nutrients:

385 mg of potassium
30 mg magnesium
22 mg phosphorus
8 mg calcium
1 mg sodium
12 mg vitamin C

In addition, there are 21 g of carbohydrates, 2 g of fiber, but only 1.1 g of protein and 0.2 g of fat in a banana. 100 g of bananas have 95 calories – which provide the body with energy quickly, but at the same time also contain a lot of fructose. For comparison: 100 g of bananas contain 12 g of sugar, other fruits such as strawberries just 5 g.

Bananas provide a quick boost of energy. However, the insulin level, which rises sharply for a short time due to the sugar, falls again shortly afterwards, which can lead to ravenous appetite attacks and tiredness. However, the positive effects on health outweigh the negative ones. Bananas should therefore be on your menu.

Five servings of vegetables and fruit a day

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends eating five servings of fruit and vegetables a day. The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) summarizes this under the rule “5 a day” and recommends 250 grams of fruit.

A healthy mix of different types of fruit makes sense, which means: You should not only eat bananas. One to a maximum of three, depending on the size of course, should be fine for most adults.
