Ewan McGregor showed kids famous “Trainspotting” toilet scene

In 1996, Ewan McGregor starred in the cult film Trainspotting. A few decades later he watched a certain scene with his children, revealed the 52-year-old.

Karlovy Vary – Hollywood actor Ewan McGregor has reportedly shown his children the toilet scene from the cult film ‘Trainspotting.’

In the scene, the main character Mark Renton, who plays McGregor in the 1996 film directed by Danny Boyle (66), dives into a toilet bowl to fish out two opium suppositories.

The 52-year-old watched the scene with his children, according to “Variety”: “Just for a laugh,” said McGregor at the Karlsbad International Film Festival. It is perhaps a unique situation for a father to be able to show his children footage of himself going down a toilet. He was not there when his daughter Clara saw the film for the first time.

“Trainspotting” is about a group of young drug addicts, and the sequel was released in 2017. McGregor accepted the honorary award from festival president Jiri Bartoska on Saturday evening in Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary), Czech Republic. The road movie You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder, starring McGregor and his daughter, celebrated its foreign premiere in Karlovy Vary.

A family trip to the film festival

He also brought his mother Carol Diane McGregor, his daughter Clara Mathilde McGregor (27) and his partner Mary Elizabeth Winstead (38) to the annual film festival in Karlsbad, Czech Republic. The Scottish actor and his US colleague were in front of the camera together for the series “Fargo” in 2016 and have been a couple since 2017. In the summer of 2021, the two welcomed their son Laurie. According to media reports, they are said to have married in early 2022. He has four other children from a previous marriage to Eve Mavrakis (57), including Clara.

McGregor and his daughter also celebrated the international premiere of their joint film “You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder” at the festival. The world premiere of the US production took place in March at the SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas. The drama tells the story of a father and his estranged daughter. The story was co-written by Clara McGregor and is loosely based on the real life of the Hollywood star and his daughter. “It’s a complete dream,” said Clara after her father asked her on stage.

At the opening of the festival on June 30, the Swedish Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (34) had already received the award. Hollywood star Russell Crowe (59) was awarded the Crystal Globe at the start. The 57th edition of the film festival will take place until July 8th.
