India woos foreign filmmakers, offers wide opportunities to intl film producers

Indian Tourism Minister K  Chiranjeevi has said India is a complete film-making destination and offered wide opportunities to foreign film producers in the country.

New Delhi, May 21/Nationalturk – In would could be seen as an attempt to boost tourism in India, Indian  Tourism Minister K  Chiranjeevi has said India is a complete film-making destination and offered wide opportunities to foreign film producers in the country.

“We try constantly to create new opportunities for international filmmakers in India. We give them access to diverse Indian locations, and state of the art production and post-production facilities,” Chiranjeei said while speaking at International Film Festival at Cannes, France .

He said India offers international filmmakers  range of locations from magnificent Himalayas to sprawling beaches; from vast deserts to placid lakes and back waters; from legendary forts to world heritage sites. “India represents immense vibrancy and enthusiasm waiting to be captured on global cinema screens”.

‘India is land of dreams and ideas’

Maintaining that  India is a land of dreams and ideas, the minister said there are many films, many musical numbers that have been conceived and shot in India. “The Oscar winning film Life of Pi is the latest example in this regard”.

Referring to single-window clearance system to facilitate film shooting and making in India he said two ministries – Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Tourism — will work in tandem in simplifying the procedures and fast tracking multiple clearances that are required for shooting.

Chiranjeevi said India’s endeavor is to offer the international film-makers best of the facilities. “I take this opportunity to invite every director, every producer and every actor to India. I promise, you will find the location and facility what you are seeking in our beautiful country,” he said.

He expressed the hope that many foreign film makers will come forward for joint film production with their counterparts in India.

Intl filmmakers showing interest in shooting in India

The international filmmakers especially Hollywood directors and producers are showing interest in shooting some of shots of their films in India. Besides, some Hollywood films have also cast Indian film stars including Amitabh Bachan in their films.

Experts are of the opinion if international filmmakers shoot some part of their films in India, it would  be a big boost for Indian tourism as it is supposed to attract more foreign tourists to the country.
