Netanyahu says he had prostate cancer and has completed treatment

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and has now completed treatment. He also said the release of his medical report was delayed so it would not be used as propaganda during the war with Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has disclosed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and has already finished treatment. In a post on X, the 76-year-old said doctors found a malignant tumor smaller than one centimeter in his prostate and treated it. Netanyahu said the targeted radiotherapy was successful and that the spot had completely disappeared.

Netanyahu shared the diagnosis on social media

In his statement, Netanyahu said he had undergone surgery about a year and a half ago because of benign prostate enlargement and had continued with regular follow-up checks afterward.

He said one of those recent examinations revealed a malignant tumor smaller than one centimeter, leading to targeted radiotherapy treatment.

Netanyahu: “This small medical issue is now behind me”

Netanyahu said the treatment process had been completed and described the issue as resolved. “Thank God, I am healthy. This small medical issue is now behind me,” he said.

Doctors said it was detected early

The Prime Minister’s Office also released doctors’ assessments together with Netanyahu’s statement. According to those evaluations, the tumor was very small and detected at an early stage. Doctors also said there was no evidence of metastasis.

Treatment reportedly began months ago

An Israeli source speaking to CNN said the cancer diagnosis had been made several months ago. The same source said Netanyahu began radiotherapy about two and a half months ago and completed the treatment recently.

He said the report was delayed for two months

Netanyahu also said he postponed the release of his annual health report for two months. He linked that decision to the period of war involving Iran.

According to Netanyahu, publishing the report during the war between the United States, Israel and Iran could have allowed Tehran to use it as propaganda against Israel.
