The diplomatic efforts in Ukraine stuck: pro-Russian separatists reject According to the Ukrainian President Poroshenko negotiations on a ceasefire further. Russia announces more and more refugees.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has Russia and the separatists in eastern Ukraine made several suggestions for places where a ceasefire could be negotiated. This would, however, declined the offers. That said Poroshenko in a telephone conversation with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. The Vice-President had Poroshenko assured that the U.S. discuss with their partners about possible sanctions. Russia should not be pursued further accountable for their support to the separatists, said the White House.
In a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Poroshenko had already declared its readiness for a new ceasefire on Thursday. He had assured Merkel that he was open to a “two-sided ceasefire”, said the Ukrainian presidency on Friday. At the same time control the border with Russia is essential in order to curb the flow of arms and fighters from the neighboring country.
The pro-Russian fighters had on Thursday, although admitted that they are inferior to the Ukrainian troop numbers and of their equipment manufactures. They want to keep their positions in Donetsk and Luhansk, however. The requirement to lay down their weapons, they refused so far from unacceptable. Poroshenko has made this a condition for further talks.
Ukraine Conflict:Hundreds of Thousands flee violence
Because the fighting in eastern Ukraine continue unabated, Moscow laments the increasing number of refugees. Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin have spoken with the National Security Council, the Presidential Administration said on Friday. According to authorities, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians took refuge in Russia already searched. The regional administration in Rostov-on-Don has imposed a state of emergency in several areas bordering the Ukraine.
The Foreign Ministry in Moscow had criticized on the eve of the bombardment of a Ukrainian-Russian border crossing at which waited more than 200 refugees. Responsible for border protection Russian FSB announced that because of the attacks of the Ukrainian side the transitions Donetsk, Novoshakhtinsk and Gukowo had now been closed.
