Norway’s Princess Märtha Louise is engaged

The next aristocratic wedding is coming up. This time the Norwegian princess Märtha Louise and her boyfriend Durek Verrett are getting married. He asked for her hand – and is now visibly moved.

They have been a couple for three years. Now comes the next step: Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett are getting married. The Norwegian Palace confirmed this on Tuesday. A date for the celebrations has not yet been set. “Patience” is requested. The three daughters of the Norwegian princess are also brought into play as a reason: “Maud, Leah and Emma are happy for us and it is an exciting time for the whole family. However, we ask for your understanding that the children are having summer at this time can enjoy in peace.”

The statement continued: “His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen extend their warmest congratulations to Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett on their engagement and wish them all the best for the future.” The family of Märtha’s brother, Crown Prince Haakon, also sent “congratulations”.

A first picture of the now engaged couple is also doing the rounds. Among other things, Verrett proudly presented it to his approximately 260,000 followers on Instagram. Apparently taken in Los Angeles, where the two are currently located, they look into each other’s eyes in love in the picture. Märtha Louise holds her engagement ring clearly visible for the camera.

Verrett moved: “I cry with happiness”

“She said yes,” Verrett celebrates the moment in his post. There is nothing better than having “clarity” as a man that the woman is the right one, he writes there. “I am crying with happiness to be able to spend the rest of my life with the warmest, most angelic, wisest and most powerful woman”. Together with her, he wants to use the power “as a soulful spiritual couple” to support people all over the world with love and tolerance. Märtha Louise, he says, is the “love of his life” and he will “love her for the rest of his life”.

Verrett has become known with the nickname “sex shaman” in relevant tabloids. The American-born author writes about spiritual themes of love and calls himself a shaman. For Märtha Louise, the connection with him will already be the second marriage. The princess was married to Norwegian writer Ari Behn from 2002 to 2017, with whom she has three daughters. Behn took his own life at the end of 2019 at the age of 47. Shortly thereafter, she met Durek Verrett.
